The Photoshoot with Maria – Personality in Focus
I had the pleasure of meeting Maria at the East Thuringian Photography Meetup – an impressive personality with a truly unique presence. Even during our first shoot, it was clear that she possessed a special presence in front of the camera, one that couldn't be staged, but was simply there.
Since then, we've completed several portrait shoots, each with its own distinct style and visual language. This very evolution is what makes such projects so exciting for me.
Different Moods – One Person, Many Facets
A highlight of this project was the deliberate shifting of looks and moods.
Sometimes strong, dark, and rebellious – with clear contrasts and intense charisma.
Sometimes calm, thoughtful, and vulnerable – understated, honest, and reserved.
Capturing these contrasts photographically is, for me, the essence of portrait photography:
not just showing a face, but making personality, emotions, and depth visible.
Real personalities. Authentic portraits.
I don't photograph people according to fixed poses or rigid guidelines. Instead, I allow space for movement, emotions, and genuine moments. This results in portraits that don't appear staged, but rather honest, vibrant, and individual.
Every shoot tells its own story – and that's precisely what makes portrait photography one of the most expressive forms of photography for me.

Even though this shoot took place in East Thuringia, I'm not tied to any particular location as a portrait photographer.
I photograph in Jena, Thuringia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and, upon request, throughout Germany – outdoors, at photo meetups, or for individually planned portrait sessions.
